How to run a paid community chat

Set up a members-only group chat that opens and closes with each membership, and keep it worth paying for.

A group chat with your members.

Every page comes with its own community chat. You choose the tier that unlocks it, and members can message you directly from the tier you pick. Leave the tier, lose the chat: access follows the membership.

Message the community

Unlocked by tier

Pick the lowest tier that gets in. Everyone above it does too.

Supporters and Patrons are in. Listeners see a Join button.

Direct messages

Patrons and above can message you.

Could you sign the vinyl for my brother? His birthday is the 20th.

Of course. Send me his name and it goes out Monday.

Why a paid chat

A chat turns supporters into a group. Members get to talk to you and to each other, which is something a free feed cannot give them.

Set it up on TKVR

  1. Start free and add at least one tier.
  2. In your studio, open Community and pick the lowest tier that can join. Everyone on that tier or above gets in.
  3. Decide whether supporters can also message you directly, and from which tier.
  4. Tell your members where to find it: the chat lives on your page.

Access follows the membership. When someone cancels and their paid month ends, they leave the chat. You never remove people by hand.

Keep it worth paying for

  • Show up on a rhythm members can count on, even if it is once a week.
  • Post things there first: a new track, a draft, a behind the scenes photo.
  • Run events around it, like a livestream with its own live chat.
  • Ask questions. A chat where only you talk is a feed.

What it costs

The chat is part of your page. You pay the normal fee on memberships and nothing extra for the chat.
